Aldercar Infant and Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the physical, mental and emotional welfare of every pupil, both inside and outside of the school premises. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and all staff and visitors into school play a full part in keeping the children safe.
We have a Safeguarding Team and a Family Liaison Worker who are dedicated to the safeguarding and protection of our children and families, and who work in partnership with all local statutory agencies including Children’s Services, Health Team and the Police.
At least one member of the Safeguarding Team is always on site and available to deal with urgent safeguarding issues during school opening hours. Families who have safeguarding concerns can contact the Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Siddons, by telephoning the school on 01773 713428, and making it clear to the office staff that this is an urgent safeguarding issue. For all other safeguarding matters, you can phone the school office, or contact us via Class Dojo, to request an appointment with one of the Safeguarding Team.
If you have a safeguarding concern about a child who attends our school, outside of school hours (eg. evenings, weekends and holidays), please contact us by email at concerns@aldercar-inf.derbyshire.sch.uk This email is continually monitored. You can also contact Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190
Early Help staff are available on the school gate at the beginning and end of the school day to discuss queries, or to arrange a 1:1 appointment for more complex issues. Families can also contact the school office to arrange an appointment. For more information see our Early Help page.
All staff receive annual safeguarding training, and our Safeguarding Team receive additional specialist training every two years. All staff fully understand the role they play in safeguarding and protecting children.

Our webpage Keeping Safe provides further advice and information for families, at child friendly and age appropriate levels. We also provide weekly tips to families on Safeguarding and keeping children safe online through our Class Dojo system. We recommended all families sign up to this system when children join our school, as this is one of our key communication methods. (The Class Dojo system also has a translate option)
